We work across the NSW Government helping to improve the effectiveness of public services and policy by applying what we know about the way people think and act.

The Behavioural Insights Unit sits within the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet and was established in 2012. We:

  • run major trials, provide policy advice and support NSW government agencies that are running their own behavioural trials and interventions

  • build the capability of the NSW public sector to apply BI through training, resources, and hosting events with leading thinkers and practitioners

  • contribute to the global body of BI evidence by collaborating with academia and publishing NSW trial results.

We continue to be supported by the UK Behavioural Insights Team and we are increasingly collaborating with international and Australian academics on projects.
